Welcome to Polden Bower School

Welcome to Polden Bower School. It is both my pleasure and my privilege to introduce you to our wonderful community through our school website.

Polden Bower School supports children and young people aged 4 to 19 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan. Our youngest learners begin their journey with us at our Albert Street Campus before moving on to our Bower Lane Campus from Year 3 onwards. We are also extremely proud to offer a Sixth Form provision designed for students who benefit from a blended and bespoke approach to further education.

At the heart of Polden Bower is our commitment to Inclusion. We believe every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and empowered to thrive. Our school values reflect this deeply held belief and underpin all we do.

We embed the principles of the Bower Learning partnership across our curriculum, strengthening independence, resilience, creativity, and collaboration. This approach ensures that all pupils regardless of need are equipped with the skills and confidence to be successful learners and active participants in their community.

As leaders, we are passionate about placing our values at the centre of every decision. Children are always at the forefront of our thinking, and we strive to ensure that every learner receives the support, encouragement and opportunities they need to become the very best version of themselves.

We are committed to providing exceptional educational experiences and the highest possible outcomes for all pupils within a safe, kind and nurturing environment. Our staff receive extensive and ongoing professional development, including a 10‑day induction programme, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet the diverse and individual needs of our children.

We are proud of our strong partnerships with families. Our well‑established Family Team and Extended Services Team provide a wealth of support, advice and activities beyond the school day, ensuring that our community remains connected and supported.

This sense of community was recognised by Ofsted, who noted:

“Polden Bower is a community hub for its families. Pupils love coming to school. They attend very well. They benefit from caring and skilled staff who build positive, trusted relationships with them.”

Our staff are supported by an experienced multidisciplinary Inclusion Team, who offer ongoing supervision, guidance and challenge to ensure high‑quality practice throughout the school.

We warmly welcome visitors. Our onsite café truly the heart of our school , it offers a friendly space for families, visitors and the wider community to connect.
