Staff CPD Opportunities
Growing People, Unlocking Potential
At Polden Bower School and across the wider Bower Learning Partnership, we are deeply passionate about growing our colleagues. Professional learning and career development are at the heart of our culture, and we believe that when our people thrive, our pupils and communities benefit.
We are immensely proud of the many colleagues who joined our schools in one role and, through commitment, support, and opportunity, have progressed and developed during their time with us. Today, they lead our schools and services as Heads of School or Central Team Leaders—living examples of our belief in developing talent from within.
Developing Careers From Day One
We are committed to supporting staff at every stage of their journey. This begins with our ten-day induction programme for all new starters, delivered three times a year. This programme provides a strong foundation, bringing colleagues together to understand our values, develop key skills, and feel confident and connected from the outset.
Alongside induction, we offer a wide range of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities that are practical, high quality, and closely aligned with both individual aspirations and organisational priorities.

Apprenticeships That Open Doors
Apprenticeships are a core part of how we grow future leaders and specialists. We are incredibly proud of the apprentices we take on and the many positive stories of colleagues who continue to develop, qualify, and thrive within the Partnership.
Our commitment to apprenticeships was recognised when we were awarded Apprentice Employer of the Month in February 2026. Building on this success and our determination to develop from within, we currently have a cohort of staff accessing a Level 5 Specialist Apprenticeship, supporting advanced professional expertise and long-term career progression.

Leadership Development and Specialist Training
We actively invest in leadership capacity across the Partnership. Opportunities include:
- In-house leadership training, tailored to our context and values
- SWALLS leadership and training opportunities, enabling collaboration and learning beyond our own schools
- Ongoing specialist CPD pathways that support progression into senior and strategic roles
These experiences are designed to build confidence, capability, and a strong sense of professional identity.

A Culture of Ambition and Support
We are passionate about professional growth and proud of the culture we have created—one where ambition is encouraged, potential is recognised, and development is actively supported.
For prospective employees, we hope this commitment excites and inspires you as much as it does us. If you are willing to develop, learn, and grow, we will always assess each case on its own merit to create meaningful opportunities for progression.
At the Bower Learning Partnership, CPD is more than training—it is about passion, professional career development, and real opportunities to build a fulfilling and impactful career.
